Hi Admin, The Dome in the Coptic Orthodox Church represents Heaven, and just like everything in out Church it has a very specific meaning. There is an order to the Church. First you have the Church building, representing the Coptic Orthodox Christians. Then inside the building, raised above the people is the Altar of God. Then from here there are two perspectives... from the inside of the Church you can see the Dome, where Jesus is shown looking down from Heaven with his saints and angels, welcoming all those who come to him. From the outside of the Church building you see the Dome on the centre of the building, then on top of the Dome is a Cross. This Cross represents the Head of our Church. Our Lord and Master of us all Jesus Christ. It truely is wonderous how rich in history and sybolism our Church really is. I thank you for your question. God Bless You |
