
St. Mark Church is Melbourne’s second church. It was first located in a small church in Northcote where it remained for several years. In 1986 St. Mark Church congregation was able to purchase a piece of land in Preston, north of the city and set about building Melbourne’s first Coptic Orthodox Church in the Coptic style complete with a domed ceiling. Completed in July 1990, St. Mark church was blessed by His Holiness Pope Shenouda III ho consecrated the altar of St. Mark on 24th February 1991.
